We are happy to announce our second community event for 2022 - Stitch Club - The Kantha Sew Along!

In 2020 we had a wonderful time exploring hand sewing as part of the Alison Glass Stitch Club. Each month we looked at a different topic where we explored background information featuring inspirational makers, provided information for further reading with tips and helpful content, and projects for participants to make and learn from. The June topic was the running stitch with an emphasis on kantha. The main project was to complete a pillow with a ‘going further’ throw-size project. Participants really loved the process, and we've been hoping to host a kantha quilt sew along ever since. Stitch Club is less about a finished project and more about the journey and enjoyment of stitching. It is meant to be fun and low pressure.

THE SCHEDULE/DETAILS

Part one (including the supply list) of the Kantha Journal will go out on March 27, 2022. This section will include an introduction, inspiration, a complete event calendar, and a supply list. The event will last for 6 weeks: April 19, 2022 - May 29, 2022 to give plenty of time between March 27th and April 19th to gather your supplies.

On April 19th, we will email a link to download part two of the Kantha Journal, ‘sewing the top’. From there, we will add to the Kantha Journal each week, working our way through the project together over the course of the event. Invitations to the Stitch Club Community (Kantha Sew Along Event) will be sent at the same time.

The AG Team will host the event and communicate to the group through our online Stitch Club Community, newsletters (generally no more than 2 per week), and Instagram. You will always find the most up-to-date information here on the Stitch Club Sew Along landing page.

JOINING STITCH CLUB - THE KANTHA SEW ALONG

Sign up for the sew along through the Stitch Club - Kantha Sew Along listing. The fee to join the Kantha Sew Along includes the (revised/expanded) Stitch Club Kantha Journal, lets us know that you want to participate, gets your name on the list for the Sew Along newsletters (you MUST opt in as a newsletter subscriber to get the Sew Along newsletters), an invitation to join the online Stitch Club Community, allows us to collect your address for sending your participation patch, and helps with event administration costs.

The Stitch Club Kantha PDF journal will include content from the June 2020 Journal (Running Stitch/Kantha theme), but will be delivered weekly in smaller sections, building throughout the event. The content is updated and expanded and will focus on a throw-size quilt rather than a pillow project. In addition, we are adding video tutorials and additional inspiration.

Each participant who joins will receive a Kantha Sew Along patch. Each person who finishes their kantha quilt and submits a photo by the due date will earn a Finisher Pin, but because this is intended to be a slow stitching project with a focus on meditative and calming stitching, the deadline to submit a finished project will not be until the end of the summer, August 31, 2022. We want to help you accomplish this project, but in a calm way!

After signing up you will automatically be sent a welcome letter. Upon receiving it, please download the ‘I’m In’ graphics and post to social media, more information below. Choose any fabric you like - you do not need to use Alison Glass fabrics to participate. We will offer a number of kits after the supply list is sent on March 27th.
