In the Sashiko Workshop we take a deeper look at the running stitch through Sashiko inspired projects. There is a focus on understanding traditional Sashiko, and how it differs from the workshop projects, by studying the work of mother and son Sashiko artists Keiko and Atsushi Futatsuya. The sashiko inspired projects in the workshop start as samplers for each stitch design, then you can turn the samplers into small projects if you wish. We include multiple project examples and inspiration in the workshop, but you have the freedom to choose whatever you’d like.
To simplify gathering the basic materials, we have curated a starter kit, available here.
The Sashiko Workshop is presented in a PDF magazine-style journal that, along with the tutorials and projects, includes extensive additional detail. This encompasses background information on techniques, articles about artists related to the theme, and inspirational images.
You will receive a link to download the PDF at the time of purchase, and it will also be linked to your account. While you can print the PDF, it is ideally enjoyed on a tablet or computer to fully utilize the clickable links to additional information.
