Embroidery Workshop
The Embroidery Workshop focuses on outline stitches, filled stitches, and french knots. Specifically we will look at the backstitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, seed stitch, satin stitch, long and short stitch, and french knots. These stitches form the basics of what we tend to picture when we think of hand embroidery. Vintage tea towels and linens you might have from years ago were commonly stitched with basic outline and filled stitches. These concepts form an understanding for many more complex stitches and techniques.
In addition to a hooped art piece, project ideas for this workshop include pre-finished kitchen/tea towels, fringed edge cloth napkins, and an embroidered pillow case. Specific designs used in the project section of the workbook are included in this journal for printing/tracing.
The Embroidery Workshop is presented in a PDF magazine-style journal that, along with the tutorials and projects, includes background information on techniques, articles about artists related to the theme, and inspirational images.
You will receive a link to download the PDF at the time of purchase and it will also be attached to your account. While you can print the PDF, it is really meant to be enjoyed on a tablet or computer in order to take advantage of the clickable links to additional information.
