The Cozy Sew Along & Workshop

    An AG Stitch Club Event

The Cozy Quilt is a jersey knit, raw edge, reverse appliqué project (throw quilt or floor pillows/sampler) made out of high quality, 100% cotton, medium weight jersey knit, quilting cotton, and Perle cotton thread.

Jersey knit is soft, weighty, and so comfortable making this a truly cozy project - just right for winter. It is a meditative, slow stitching project that is meant to be savored. It is the picture of hygge*: comfort, togetherness, and wellbeing. It is an opportunity to rest, reconnect with yourself, and enjoy a true by hand project that is also quite achievable. It’s the quilt you will choose to curl up with on chilly nights! Join us for the Cozy Workshop. (Signups closed 11/8, we will open them up again in December if there are still knit kits available. Please add yourself to the waitlist below for information.)

      Let's make a quilt

Like most quilts it is made up of three layers, but in this project the layers are a little different!

The top layer (traditionally the quilt top) is a whole cloth piece of jersey knit.

The middle layer (traditionally the batting) is quilting cotton (either pieced or whole cloth).

The bottom layer (traditionally the backing) is another layer of whole cloth jersey knit.

      Draw, sew & cut!

Using a stencil, shapes are drawn onto the top layer of jersey knit fabric. The shapes are outlined with Perle cotton and a simple running stitch. The jersey knit is cut away inside the stitching (reverse appliqué) to reveal the middle quilting cotton layer.

      Reveal your colors!

The technique allows for curvy, organic shapes in quilting. There is a lot of satisfaction and surprise as each shape is cut away to reveal the colorful printed fabrics underneath.

      What is the Cozy Workshop?

The Cozy Workshop will be a combination of video and written instruction. Project instructions will be fully supported via video, hosted on a private online platform. The written portion will be a series of PDF downloads in our AG Stitch Club Journal format - a magazine style journal filled with special features to learn more - as well as inspirational images, full written instructions, four print at home stencil options, and many photos and tips to complete your project. The AG Team is thrilled to offer the Cozy Workshop & Sew Along in this format - more interactive, easier to navigate, all the parts in one place - it’s going to be great!

When is the Cozy Workshop & Sew Along?

This is a winter* project. Most of the time commitment in January - March, with a bit of prep to do in November/December, if desired. (You can also wait to start the prep in January, if preferred.)

*Winter in the northern hemisphere - we guess it’s summer holiday stitching in other parts of the world. 🙂

How do I to sign up?

*Signups closed 11/8, we will open them up again in December if there are still knit kits available. Please add yourself to the waitlist below for information.*

Sign ups will be open until early November. If there are enough kits available we will open sign ups again before January. This is to provide onboarding support to our Cozy Workshop group in a more seamless way than we’ve been able to in the past. We want to make sure that we can get any additional supplies/materials in stock and to participants in a timely manner.

When you sign up you will automatically receive the Cozy Workshop Design & Materials Workbook as a PDF download at checkout. The download link will also arrive in your email receipt after checkout.

The Design & Materials Workbook will include the information needed to help you gather supplies and make fabric and thread choices for your project. We suggest going through the Workbook before purchasing materials and supplies to help you make informed choices. Details about supplies and materials is available below.

Participation Patches and Finisher Pins will be available for this event. Find out more in your Welcome letter at sign up!
