Feathers

The Feathers quilt, first published in 2013, is one of the original and most beloved Alison Glass patterns. Co-authored with Nydia Kenhle, Feathers is based on a fabric from the first Sun Print fabric collection. It is a classic AG block design with a lot of possibilities. In the new thirty two page booklet version, we are happy to include a gallery of quilts to illustrate options and provide inspiration. Feathers uses the foundation paper piecing method to create the blocks. It includes fourteen block templates and detailed instructions with full color illustrations.

Feathers Materials List

Fabric Requirements

background: 4 yards
foreground (feather shapes): 2 1/2 total yards, see note below*
backing: 4 yards
binding: 1/2 yard

*Note: Use a variety of 25-40 prints to achieve the color gradation shown (20 - 25 fat quarters or 40 - 50 fat eighths are appropriate bundle sizes). The cover quilt uses (42) fabrics from the Sun Print 2020 and Sun Print 2021 fabric collections by Alison Glass for Andover Fabrics. Sun Print is an ongoing basics line, and fabrics from any of the groups will work well. Fat eighth bundles provide a variety of fabrics in a cut size that works well with the templates. Feathers is also a good project for scraps.
