Introducing Sun Print

I feel like I need to start with a little bit of background for this one. It is one of those collections that just sort of happened. I’ve been noticing a need for stash builders, blenders, basics, or whatever anyone wants to call them, in distinctive, highly useable colors and a wide range so that they can be used with whatever other fabric people want. Bike Path in the spectrum of colors offered in Lucky Penny was well received, and I see it integrated with other fabrics in tons of projects. It’s so nice to see people enjoying it! So, I decided to put together an entire collection of stash builders. I took A LOT of time choosing colors that would work well with other fabric lines, as well as Lucky Penny, Clover Sunshine, Field Day, and future collections, and am so excited to begin sharing the images. I adore all of the colors and can’t wait to see what people will make!

It is a big collection, so as not to overwhelm anyone, the release schedule is a little different. There are six prints in the collection that come in nine colors each. 6 x 9 = 54! Exciting! Each of the six groups covers a nice range of colors. The sub groups will start shipping to stores in early summer, one group per month until November. The first group, Feathers, is scheduled for June/July!

Inspiration for the name Sun Print:

There is also a text print, called Text, very original, I know! Sometimes it’s just good to go with the obvious, right? It’s a simple design, truly meant more than anything to create texture. The nine colors are usable with tons of projects! I wrote the words, and while they mean something to me, the meaning is not the main thing, it’s the feel of the design and how it is used that is the focus.

Party Streamer is a tonal group that I think will work very well with a lot of other fabrics and as binding. I’m excited to see this one! Corsage is a montage of shadow-y images, a little I SPY-ish, and not to play favorites, but I love the feel of these, and the tonal colors!

X & + has some really nice, slightly more earthy colors, plus one of my favorite colors, the bright pink salmon one at the top! There are nine new Bike Path colors too, and three white on white fabrics are included also, so get your dye ready! Or use as it. I personally am really looking forward to these options for when I want to use white for a background, but want is to come across a little more special with a surprise.

While I am so excited to see how people will mix these fabrics in with their projects, I have to say that they work nicely together as a group as well. I am delighted to get to work with Nydia Kehnle on a number of upcoming projects, one of which is the free to use PDF pattern to go along with this collection. You can find it over on the Andover Fabrics website. Images for two color combinations are below.

I cannot wait to see what people will make with these!
